I think Britain did better than expected at the Beijing Olympics, so to think it will be better than that just because of home advantage is a bit unrealistic.

Success at the Olympics depends mainly on how much a country wants to spend.
Monday 30th July 2012 The main news is the rows and rows of empty seats.
During Monday Britain got another bronze medal. Our total is now 3. One silver and two bronze.
We have lost the keys to Wembly Stadium worth £40,000 pounds. The same has happened to the Wimbledon tennis courts their keys have also gone missing.
Team GB is now in 19th place. Doesn't the Olympics make you proud to be British.
You are entitled to your view, of course. But by decrying the majority view and mocking sports enthusiasts, you reveal your own dismal failure to understand this country, most of its people, London, or even the century in which you are supposedly living.
The UK was committed to the Olympics. It could not pull out without damage to its reputation. It now has a chance to build on the investment. The opening ceremony was an outstanding start. The Games proper should magnify the achievement. Millions of right-minded people will be soaking up the whole atmosphere. Shame you're unable to join in...

If the majority of people are enjoying the Olympics I am delighted for them.
I am not mocking sports enthusiasts. I am a keen sports enthusiast myself. I love cricket, tennis and football and keep very fit through playing sports as well as running and gym excercise. But by decrying the majority and mocking sports enthusiasts
PS I was at Centre Court at Wimbledon twice this year. Wimbledon is a wonderful tennis event and shows Britain at its best.
If I don't understand people getting excited by a rather limp opening ceremony and who get excited by folk walking down the road with a piece of metal in their hands, I can live with that.you reveal your own dismal failure to understand this country, most of its people, London, or even the century
Last time I checked I was alive, but maybe these words are an apparition...you are supposedly living.
I completely agree with you.The UK was committed to the Olympics. It could not pull out without damage to its reputation.
It would have had a much better chance if they had put business people in charge instead of lefty lovies who seem to prefer talking to themselves rather than focus on projecting to an international audience. It now has a chance to build on the investment.
If that genuinely is the case, there will be no-one more delighted than me. I want our country to excel and if people from overseas were enthused by the opening ceremony that's brilliant news. It doesn't really matter if the product is rubbish provided the customers like it.The opening ceremony was an outstanding start. The Games proper should magnify the achievement. Millions of right-minded people will be soaking up the whole atmosphere.
I agree. I started watching the ceremony hoping it would have been as uplifting as the Queens jubilee celebrations. Unfortunately I found it to be excrutiatingly embarrasing instead.Shame you're unable to join in...
I refer you to my signature...
