Surely terrorists and master criminals will now boost Royal Mail profits by going back to traditional letters in sealed envelopes. Or will Royal Mail be compelled to keep the steaming kettle on and keep a note of every letter they deliver?

The reason there is so little crime in Germany is that it's against the law.

Thats right, this Big Brother society has only been possible because of modern technology. The less technology you use the harder it is to survielle you.
Islamic oppression and sexist sharia law should not be allowed free rein in our democratic society.

I'm not sure whether the above poster is, an ocker or a bogan boy.

No doubt he's suffering from not being able to play the pokies.

Make the two key primes large enough, it takes days to decrypt. Thats why Mersenne primes are so hard to find, and why there's only 47 known Mersenne Primes after 250 years of looking, and why such problems are known as nP-hard. One such system is Private Idaho. Trust the maths, it never lies.

You fell for the BS, they WANT you to think they can crack any cypher. If they are so smart, how come the Voynich Manuscript remains undecipherable, thats should be a doddle to crack?
I'd like to think, after starting with 'O' level Computer Studies in 1974, and 30 years working in IT including a degree course, I wouldn't fall for any "BS" and I didn't. What I said was proprietary encryption - i.e. available to buy on the market, as probably all encryption algorithms are known. Do you honestly think that the authorities would allow encrypted e-mails to fly around all over the place?

I'm aware of the fascinating properties of prime numbers, including Mersenne Primes, and the 'dual immense prime key' problem. I can't find a link to the story of a guy testing this method of encryption with a harmless e-mail, and was arrested, sequestrated and interrogated for hours by a joint task force of the FBI and NSA. He was using 2 primes that were a mere 480 digits long, IIRC.

As for the Voynich Manuscript, I've no idea as I've never looked into it. But according to this site, it is still a complete mystery to humans after 500 years. So really, that's a fallacious comparison, as you can't ask a supercomputer to parse and manipulate lexemes when you don't even understand the constructs.

Oh Jeez, don't start with Australian colloquialisms.

It's a whole different language, and not easily accessible to those of us who speak English.

Are you not fluent in Strine?

I'm just finishing off a bottle of wine that the Sheila bought tonight, but didn't like very much, so she gave it to me. It's got a bouquet like an aborigine's armpit.

    Rule number one.

thank you for the CV, its similar to mine except i have a 2/2 i n Computer Science from Manchester Uni, and and started out writing COBOL66 on a VAX 11/750 running MINIMAC and JCL, but spent most of my life as a project manager, rolling out wans and lans to 200+ sites at a time. Millions and millions of pounds worth of hardware and software, starting at Novell 3 on IBM's and finishing at Server 2003 on Dells, and all that went between

But im not into big willy competitions with the paid contractors, very boring.

I didn't give you my CV, that runs to two A4 pages, but as you tried to patronise and belittle me, especially from a mis-read post, I simply stated where my experience came from. A bit surprised with that background that I needed to.

Those engaging in "big willy competitions" are a psychiatrists wet dream - years of major issues to unravel - not sure why it was mentioned here.
