They want to get rid of those instincts to recognise your own kind and get us all being bi sexual while they're at it. That's the way to make us all lovely and sweet to each other and all hold hands and sing.
They could start off by doing experiments to find out how it is when you rear an aquarium fish away from others of its own species it still recognises its own species and swims/breeds with it. What is going on there? How do they know to discriminate like that? Amazing isn't it? (And evil no doubt).

C'mon! You'd ignore the Tom/Katie split? Story of the year. Went for my daily breakfast coffee down the Bar Tabac and it was literally the only topic of conversation...
(Old Boy who gives everyone a running commentary on the news of the day: "Difference Irreconcilable? Katie n'a pas de pénis...")
Using Occam's razor, any variant of a species that failed to recognise breeding partners, would be selected out, and very quickly. As most animals use scent over other senses, I would think this plays a large part, especially as this can function over large distances.
So, is there a tier developing in the fish-fancying stakes, with Seymour relegated to a possible second place.. Do you have any ambulatory fish that eat out of your hand though? He may have you beaten on fish-oddities, if not in quantity.
Funny that topic has risen, I was only joking about it with my wife the other day about what Trevor Philips lot would do with my fish as I think they are a little racist.
My convict cichlids will only breed with my other convicts
My Geophagus will only breed with my other Geophagus
My Jewel cichlids only have eyes for each other as well!
They all live in the same community and have all bred in the same community but even the young so far do not hybridise. I find this very strange as they are living in Britain so that must make them British fish , they are all cichlids and the only thing that really differs between them visually is colour and markings. Their temperament and habits differ wildly depending on their colouring.
Maybe I should move the TV so they can see it from the tank and leave the BBC on all day for them?
As for the oddities all the Mbu's I have had eat from the hand so do my Koi and I am trying to get the sturgeon to as well

Wow, another fish person. Maybe I'm the odd one out here, I've never had fish or birds, probably because you have to create an enclosed environment, and I'm too lazy for that. Even dogs need to be kept an eye on.
I've just had cats, who come and go as they please, and are low maintenance.
