Default Hello from across the pond

Hello. Just joined here for a taste of Brit political soup. American conservative that dearly despises our current boy king. A big fan of the right honorable and brilliant Winston Churchill.

I bid ye welcome to our political mire! Churchill was the right man in the right place at the right time but I don't feel he would ever have been a politician in the modern sense of the word, it is oft reported that he was an arrogant bullying drunk, I don't know, never met the man! All hero's have faults the bigger the hero the bigger the faults people find and maybe this applies in part to your chap, I don't know that either, but be welcome anyway and let battle commence!

Hello, and welcome to this robust and highly contentious forum from a Brit conservative that despises imbeciles (esp. Republican!) in the White House

What's your favourite quote from the great man?

Thanks for the welcome. All great men are criticised , the greater the man the greater the criticisms. Of course criticisms are often lies conjoured up from typical sins/vices. Sure Churchill drank but show me a case where it diminished his abilities to do his duties. I have found none myself. Were he to truly have one or even many great weakness, I ask so what? We all have our weaknesses, do we not? What is apparent is that he accomplished great deeds in leadership and was far more that just the right man at the right time IMHO.

    Thanks for the welcome .
My favorite quote from Winston Churchill , so many to choose from.
"Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality that guarantees all the others."
Words of wisdom from a man that had great courage and love for his nation and it's people's.

I think his chief attribute as an orator.
    And not a lot else.

You mean, apart from the fact that he tried to warn a deaf and stupid parliament of the rise of National Socialism in Germany in the early 30's, and of their technological and industrial pace of growth, coupled with bellicose language?

Welcome, Tyr ! Just caught up with your PM, advising that you'd joined this forum. Very good to see you here, and I hope to see lots of debates between you and my fellow Brits here.

Tyr, I'm sure many here will benefit from the perspectives you will bring to bear as a Conservative American (... not least about one 'Barack Hussein' ....). And by the way - here as 'elsewhere', of course - your pro-Churchill pieces are always welcome, and indeed stimulating, reading.
Socialism will do this .. ....
