Let's not forget Britain's annual "hope" for Wimbledon, destined to disappoint in customary fashion. This year again it is the Scot Andy Murray. Yes another Brit who when a sports competition that involves England proudly regales to anyone listening that he wants anyone but England (the ABE mentality that should be well known by now) to win. But no doubt there will be some here in this green and pleasant land who having displayed their Chinese made St George flags for EURO 2012, will be rooting for "our Andy". Personally I hope he gets knocked out in his first match, I know that will cause some Fionas and Penelopes to spill their Pimms and choke on their strawbs, but then i'm just an ordinary Englishman who takes offence to anyone knocking my people and nation.

And he's not a nice guy (and they say nice guys come last?). Federer, Nadal and Djokavic are more sporting and well mannered.

Talking about the football and Scotland, my spouse asked why the Scot Alan Hansen is always on the pundit's panel when England play?
Of course, as we know, it's the BBC's idea of 'balance'.

How is this thread related to the English Democrats?

Mark Lawrenson too. In fairness they are not exactly partisan and if anything pro-English, unlike that ****** Roy Keane over on ITV. At least it was good to see the Irish walk away with nothing (again).

Also Andy Townsend. Played for Ireland even though a Londoner, but I consider him Irish because that's the nationality he chose for his football team.

I was recently looking at the makeup of the 20 Managers of the English Premier League, ONLY 3 OF THEM ARE ENGLISH.

If English managers played a significant role in other European leagues, then I'd be tempted to just shrug and say 'so what?

However, I've just looked at this and it seems that other European leagues have no problem finding managers of their own nationality.
