What was part two like, I only watched part one last night.

Yep, Prince Charles was called alooney when he first brought this up 30 years ago, and don't think there's not bentness about between Council planning officials and developers, it's been going on too long this, pulling perfectly good houses down to build more expensive **** ones on their former site.

I watched a programme years ago, some of you might remember it, they were comp purchasing ones all down the side of a highway, someone worked out it was where there were green fields and parks opposite this massive line of houses built linear down a road, the developers were in with the council, where there were no houses opposite the land was worth more, they were condemming peoples perfectly good houses for peronal gain and it got uncovered.

Yes so had I! What confirmed this in my mind is that Tower Hamlets which is near the docks was especially badly remodelled, there is very little indeed of the original Georgian housing left. Now I realise it was simply because Tower Hamlets is a very working class area, thus ripe for Labour tyrants to impose their Soviet style dreams of a controlled remodelled people upon.

And they did, almost all the indigenous now shifted out, many 'upmarket' (in a sense) to Essex, new towns and so on, although robbed of their heritage and homes which would be wortha small fortune now,the less fortunate to Barking and Dagenham, destroying the old communities entirely, and these now replaced with a disparate mix of mainly Bangladeshis, who run the corrupt Labour council plus more recent arrivals of Somalis, Africans and Eastern Europeans, together with poor students and young transitional City workers who enjoy the convenient location and the pretentious 'vibrancy' of Shoreditch.

There was another program next night on the canals. The most outrageous thing was how active the British Waterways Board in closing and destroying canals in the 1950's, and allowing them to fall into disrepair and disuse. One canal in particular, the Huddersfield canal, was navigated with extreme difficulty in 1950 by two guys up to the Standedge Tunnel, which took them five hours to get through due to its being so choked up. British Waterways Board was outraged, and set about making the canal permanently unusable by filling in all 76 locks with quarry spoil and then concreting over with reinforced concrete. Other canals were systematical set about as well.

Why is it the the authorities in this country charged with our assets, and cultural and historic inheritance, frequently are the worst enemy and biggest destructor of those assets ?
