I would like to know how many who have been through this system have actually found full time permanent jobs because of it and, if any, at what cost to the taxpayer per placement. The government doesn't seem very keen to boast about any conclusive figures.

In the period i was there, no one single person got a job out of it, but figures were massaged, ie people being given a days trial and then sent back to A4E were counted as 'success'.

The whole thing is shameful. Public money wasted on trying to get unemployed people into jobs which means one set of people remain unemployed rather than another set of unemployed people.

Why not cancel these mad schemes and invest the money in areas that might actually create MORE JOBS?

Exactly. These modern politicians don't understand economics. If the money isn't used to facilitate productivity then our economy stands no chance of recovering. Productivity creates wealth, not jobs. ‘Jobs’ is like a bad proxy so it skews government policy. People don't need jobs, they need wealth.
