Sad news that Jack Ashley, Baron Ashley of Stoke died yesterday.

He was marvellous campaigner and champion of rights for deaf people, and I'm told, a wonderful MP. He was one of my political heroes.

As someone who grew up with a disabled relative I was well aware of Baron Ashley's tireless campaigning for the disabled he was one of those MPS who are a rare breed in that whatever political colour you are you tended to respect him. May he rest in peace.
