Default Will "no religion" become the largest group?

On this forum we have endless discussions about immigrants and especially immigrants from islamic countries. Islam is undoubtedly the fastest growing religion in the world. Not because it would appeal to really anybody who isn't a muslim, quite on the contrary, but because of the higher birth-rates of muslims.

However, despite that, whenever there are questions about people's religion the fastest growing category is the "no religion"-category. I sincerely believe that all the doom-mongering about this and that European country becoming a muslim-majority country by the year 2050 or even earlier, will turn out to be rubbish. It is more likely that "no religion" will become the majority in most countries by that time.

Which by no means is not a bad thing.

Hasn't it existed for like 1400 years, and isn't it a social/political system (fully integrated) where people who are 'born Muslim' don't have the right to actually leave (especially women)? I don't believe the claim is true, and is simply Islamist propaganda.

I'm not sure whether I agree or disagree with you as I'm not sure what you were trying to say. What I meant is that islam is the fastest growing religion because of the birth-rates of muslims. Islam as a religion of converting into appeals to 100000 in the Uk which is 1/600 of the population and probably when you deduct from those numbers the ones who convereted in order to be able to marry a muslim spouse then the figures must be miniscule.

Doesn't religion require a concious acceptance that it is true, which is something a baby cannot do? However, it can be brainwashed through a strict religious upbringing, but that isn't really a concious decision, is it?

Basically, how can you be born Islamic?

Doesn't the Roman Catholic church make exactly the same claim?

You show your ignorance of the subject. Islam isn't just spread by birth rates, but also by jihad (war/terrorism).

Let me give you an example. Lebanon used to be a Christian country, in 1980 it was approximately 60% Christian and 40% Muslim. Then they had a civil war. It is now (at the latest official figures) quoted as 61% Muslim and 39% Christian.

However, unofficial estimates (that are agreed to be more accurate), put the Christian population at about 30%.

You can take Sudan as another example, where they've had to split the country in two, because the Muslims won't leave the Christians alone.

The fastest growing is not no religion at all.

The Muslim population in Britain has grown by more than 500,000 to 2.4 million in just four years, according to official research collated for The Times.

The population multiplied 10 times faster than the rest of society, the research by the Office for National Statistics reveals. In the same period the number of Christians in the country fell by more than 2 million.

Experts said that the increase was attributable to immigration, a higher birthrate and conversions to Islam during the period of 2004-2008, when the data was gathered.

The people who answer "no religion" to these questions about religious affiliation seem to have the biggest problem with Christianity as they hardly ever say a bad word about other religions. However, in a muslim-society they would be the first to be shot. The muslims consider atheists even bigger enemies than the folowers of the "wrong" religions.
