Marilyn will probably be here longer than me today, she gets paid far more.

    I'm only an apprentice sayan.

Looks like you attended the Marilyn Middle Eastern School of Forum Posting.
Why do these "mentions" worry you so? I don't get excited if people mention Borrowers or Munchkins. Besides, you aren't capable of entering into any of the interesting debates about life and God and ethics here so you find something from one of your chosen whipping posts and off you go. It is beginning to look like you dropped out the school of Envious Little Doodads because you weren't shaping up on Libel and Smearing.

You can't expect us to discuss who is the most intelligent forum poster. It isn't possible because we don't know who all the forum posters are, we seldom see any worthy intellect emerging from their shallow world of tit for tat small party politics and it is questionable whether people woud be able to separate actual intelligence from trolling and playing the fool. We could discuss intelligence per se but that has already been attempted elsewhere and Lily the Pink did a sterling job of trying to get a decent debate going with LaF who consistently failed to deliver because she suffers from one-dimensional neo nazi thinking syndrome and a desire to be perpetually engendering offspring no one will like or want to pay for. So one may as well discuss all manner of other interesting topics instead. This is more likely to reveal intelligence than any subjective supporting of forum mates or clan members with the right philosophy.

Speaking of fallen powers - God's experiment on earth, like Marx's, has been a rather large disaster so far and the Second Coming has proven to be a non-starter (quite literally). Every day more and more people become less and less enamoured of the human race and thus of its Maker. Only social engineers struggle on, stalwarts of a delusion that anything involving featherless bipeds is ultimately worthwhile. They are working with the wrong featherless bipeds, of course. But they can't stop now or they'll look silly. Onward commie soldiers, the troops shall set you free. The troops, have made things worse.

Back to the God Thread ...

Are we unique ? .. is our sense of self an illusion, and if so why is it.
Are we the soul .. do we have such a thing, and is that our uniqueness .. the body being just hand-me-down genes.

There's a small village called Effin.
Do mean Effin or this place:

Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes.

Thanks, I finally found it, but he doesn't say what it is or where it is.

Very provocative questions, Marilyn! The soul is as yet a concept but the body is a concrete reality. The body is certainly a case of hand-me-down genes, but the "soul" might be able to develop and evolve in a way that differs from the body. The soul might be more condusive to modification by deliberation. All religions tend to think the soul is able to progress, both while still attached to the body and after death when it moves into another concept, the afterlife. I don't see things as a life and an "afterlife" as such because this would mean that 'life" somehow stopped. For me there is no after life there is departure. Death is the release catch on the bond between the ship and the voyager in this regard.
