Default Another Farage drinking scandal about to break

Those who think the dear leader was busting himself looking for votes in bradford West the last two weeks may be disappointed by the latest attested story about what he was really doing-should be in the press over the weekend.

The same story which was published on Friday or something altogether different?

If the scandal you are referring to is the article in the Mail about Mr Farage having at least six vodkas and still looking the same, I don't think he has anything to worry about. But there's always tomorrow's papers...

Yep its the same story but the Mail covers it very skimpily. In fact it was a drinking competition organized by Farage and another hack-and it was not at the Groucho either.

Amusing Farage says he has impoverished himself in the party cause-remortgaged his house etc - and yet spends money in moronic deadbeat drinking dens. And he is presenting himself as a man to have his finger on the nuclear button.

Excoriating post on Farage by Archbishop Cramner which somehow drags in drinking contestant Toby Young.

It's neither. Young challenged Farage who stepped up to the mark. It was at the London launch of James Delingpole's new book, which turned into a bit of party of right wing bloggers, politicians, activist etc.

Toby and Delingpole discussed it on a recent podcast by Dellers. There's no secret "revealed" by the Mail. Someone just listened to the podcast and decided to make a "story" out of a non-story.

I'm no fan of Nigel - mark my words. But why the hell should he not get rat arsed whenever he likes, as long as he's off the clock? If enjoying a drink or twelve in your free time, invalidated you from your work, I'd be off the cards for a start!!

It's not like he was supposed to be in committee or speaking in the hemicycle when this event was held, was he? And blaming him for not being in Bradford West 24/7 is just stupid. What, were Cameron and Miliband there all hours, of course not, so give the guy a break.

No. Getting p1ssed when you're not working is nobody's business but yours and your doctors. Getting p1ssed while you're at your work, and being drunk when you should be working and embarrassing your party in the process, ah, that's another matter entirely...

...and so we come to the subject of Godfrey Bloom MEP.

The online story of this can be traced back to at least the lunchtime of the 29th as Toby Young's comments may have a date of 31st March, at time of writing, but the first comment is timed at 12.40pm on the 29th. I doubt the Sunday newspapers are going to be terribly interested in a story from Thursday but stranger things have happened.

It may be fairly noted that said Toby Young is chair of the Governors at the West London Free School. A fine example there.

But the real villain of the piece — the man I blame for everything that happened subsequently — was Nigel Farage. The Ukip leader turned up at about 9p.m. and after a robust exchange of views I challenged him to a drinking competition. Farage is something of a legend in this department — the sort of fact that would deter a sober man from engaging in such a contest, but has the opposite effect after you’ve had a few.

Well, dear reader, all I can say is that his reputation is thoroughly deserved. After God knows how many vodka shots — I lost count after number six — Nigel was his usual dapper self, whereas I was lurching around like an OAP on roller skates.
Of course this is not a remotely positive story for Farage but it's also not quite what Resigned Member has been claiming.

Note: I see London Pride has posted here but decided to leave my reply unamended.

Oh no! If Farage likes to drink, that completely rules him out as a contender for high political office in this country. Or possibly not....

I apreciate the point you are making and I know Churchill liked the odd drink and a cigar but Nigel's behaviour always appears a tad tawdry.
