I have just been neg repped by Endangered for a post from August 2010.

I reckon several posters will have figured this out, not just one. I think that we should be able to rep posts that were posted up to 3 months ago, or 100 days in new money, then after that we should be blocked from repping that post. It may seem like a long time, but a popular thread can often spread over a couple of months. As things stand at the moment, we can go back years to rep posts.

This excellent suggestion was made a few weeks ago but didn't seem to gain much traction at the time. I've quoted it again in light of the experience Shaun has referred to and rjt has kindly reacted to. If the rep system is to be maintained, as appears to be the wish of the moderators, then a reform such as this seems appropriate. If technically possible I would also suggest that any reps for posts made more than a year before the rep date should be stricken from the record where no comment has been made.

There are some on here with the retarded view that constructive criticism of the rep system is considered 'whingeing'. Just look through my thread offering a poll for change in the Talk about Anything forum.
