Gave it a Yes vote but I certainly don't agree that religious institutions should be forced to carry out marriages when it is against their teachings, strange though they may be. It would have been good if your poll had raised this issue. The whole civil partnership thing seems silly to me, why not just let them marry in a registry office like any other couple? There is no real difference anyway.

    This could restore the balance.
Even with polygamy as seen with the Mormons it would not lead to massive population growth but atleast some thing like the normal rates we had in the past.
It could mean children are brought up in much more stable and decent homes too.

You should become a Muslim. That's exactly what they say. I think for most of the rest of us,one woman at a time is sufficient.

It is what we Northern European practices before the arrival of Christianity another middle eastern religion.
And I dont know any man who is happy with one woman.
    It is against nature itself.

    Would you legalise polygamy too?

I think it will be legalised, personally what people do in their private lives is not something I worry about but no Religious institution should be forced to hold gay marriage services as stasted previously by Ron

It's not something I've ever really thought of but as I think about it now, I can't really see why there should be a law against it. Polygamy doesn't seem right to me. Is that a good reason to legislate against it? Not really...

Why are you so keen on increasing the birth rate? Or is it only amongst certain groups of people? Over population is going to be a huge problem for the world and no plans are in place to tackle it (outside China). We should be discouraging large families by such things as cutting off child benefit beyond two children. If there is reasonable evidence that polygamy leads to higher birth rate then that is a great reason to keep it illegal.

Does that make sense?

There are thousands, probably millions, of men who are happily married and wouldn't dream of being unfaithful or taking another wife.

Indeed it demonstrates commitment and a life serving each other and that for me is key to a relationship.

Europe has a declining population if you exclude immigration.
