True. Back in the early days, there was no Facebook page and everyone used the EDL forum. The the FB page took off circa Nov/Dec 2009 and it just became a complete farce. It should have been an announcement/PR page only, all discussion should have been throught the Zetaboards forum where if owuld have been moderated properly with just two admin that were very competent and always on call.

Roadie, FB and Twitter are full of fabricated rubbish. Best if the EDL has a well run forum, and is careful to keep out those wanting to defame it.

the problem with the old forum was: who ran it? you could NEVER be deleted even if you asked to be, and it was eventually closed down because of one thread via a phone call from someone in the U.S. so whats that got to do with Britain?

the problem with the new forum is: who runs it? a political party, who know nothing of the foot soldiers who've been out on the streets for two years being slagged off right left n centre but who want to usurp the number of supporters who they see as potential voters.

From the start, the 'Leadership' has been courted by a pile of people with their own vested interests. All these people have forgotten one thing, TR was United People of Luton and he is just a figurehead for the EDL. The EDL is in fact the actual demonstrators who get up off their backsides and get out on the street. These account for much larger numbers than the Luton 'leadership' (figureheads) and only the young/inexperienced will blindly vote for who the new webmasters of the official EDL site say, because its now British Freedom Party people running it.

Also, some people question if the term 'Defence League' is some sort of franchise? Perhaps this is why other offshoots and groups formed. At least they know their own roots.

No it was hacked by ZHC that's why it went down.

Um, Steve Infidel and MJ999, followed by moderators like myself. I've met both of them and they're top blokes.

John Jones (or whatever he is called) is Simon Bennett.

True, nothing against the ***, but I decide who I follow politically.

I wasnt talking about steve, MJ or anyone else who moderated for that matter. They were regular forum members who were given a role and MJ is one of the good guys, cant speak for Steve (dont know him), I meant who really owned/ran it behind the scenes that it could be shut down overnight on a whim. Noone really went to the new site, it was heavy going compared to the zeta and if you wanted your old avatar you had to pay £30 joining fee! nice try but no cigar. Besides most people knew each other by then so didnt need the forum

Steve_Infidel (not his real name and obviously I won't give his real name) ran it. MJ was the secondary admin from about April 2010 (the other admin's name who was wrongly pushed out, escapes my memory at the moment).

Who really owned the forum? It was Trevor Kelway, he was member #1, he opened the forum and then sat in the background (not really involved in the forum from circa April 2010, he occasionally posted in the admin/mods section).

He was the one (super admin) who closed the forum down. Google the name if you need more info.

Many of the original EDL divisional leader came from a football hooligan/bnp background.something that still hasn't really been addressed.
like the programme said you only have to look on the EDL's facebook page to see the racism posted by it's followers.
I thought he had denied being part of the firm.

No doubt "some" firms had racist elements.

However a great many had not. The firm I am most familiar with, although I have never been into that side of following football, is the Zulu's and they have been in my time mixed race and very tolerant.

I don't think so, In July 2011 he was convicted of ‘using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour’ while leading a gang of Luton Town supporters in a fight against Newport County fans.
It's hard to keep up with is what he denys and then retracts, Remember that him and his uncle denied any links the EDL had with the BNP and then it turned out they'd both had strong links with the it.
No doubt "some" firms had non-racist elements.(sorry to paraphrase you)
But the ones I know (Burnley's suicide squad and Blackburn youth) have a very strong racist element to them.
