Default Strange Advert Grab on this site.

Whilst my own pute is working fine on this site now I had reason to get my hands on a brand new one yesterday before giving it as a present to a relative. Playing with it and having all the anti virus up and it ready to go I tried one thing. I searched for British Democracy Forum and on the results went straight to the BNP section. There was an advert grab page there that refused to go away. I obviously would not click on said advert and so had to close new pute to dispose of said advert.
The person the laptop is going to is quite young and I know will never visit this site. Still quite interesting and wonder what the sites overall controllers make of that. Has any one else experienced the same. The new pute did not have the same ISP or anti virus I normally have as it came with the package. It did not happen with any of the sites other forums.
Eventually you realise your political views are not going to change the world. Political maturity is realising this but continuing anyway.

You know, a screenie might have helped? I've seen some funny stuff going on with this server, though.

Cant pretend to be knowledgeable about these things - but after clearing cookies, 25 new ones appeared on visiting BDF.

At least some of those will be for the forum software to track who you are after logging in, though, you have got whatever passes for 'remember me' ticked, haven't you?

No - I like to see all [including BNP] 'What's New' when first visiting the site. I have been doing some checking and most of the cookies were coming from my homepage - so I have changed it. Those from BDF are reasonable.

I get exactly the same thing if I use Google to go straight to the BNP section. I get the ad that won't 'go away' and won't let you close it,unless you click on a certain box. Trouble is, clicking on this box either will invite something into your computer, or advertise something about you to the outside world, clever!

This is a script written especially to do this, and in itself is nothing to worry about, as long as you don't click inside the window. The only way around this is to go into the browsers preferences and turn off 'javascript' (usually a check box). Once this is done, you will be able to close the window without it popping straight back.

You can then turn javascript back on if you wish as it is useful for certain pages.

Edit to add: I've also experienced some embedded video starting up without me clicking on them (youtubes mainly)

If I use Chrome I get those adword links you were taking about on another thread.

Thanks for your input. I going to move away from Chrome for a while and see if it solves the problem as well.

    A little later entry.

Interesting on the new pute I installed Firefox and went directly to BNP forum from Goggle.
Same advert page and Malware blocked by that putes AV which is different to mine. Testing other BDF sub forums they all OK. Is someone trying to stop new users coming to this section from Goggle.
