Maybe they can get the SDP to adopt some electable policies rather than the regurgitated left-wing clap-trap that sank Michael Foot decades ago!

If you want a right of centre party there is plenty of choice.

    Conservative
    LibDem
    New Labour
    UKIP
    English Democrats
    BNP

But if you want a left of centre party that is also anti-EU, there is only the SDP.

The SDP is a very small party with ony 7 elected councillors.
But we offer the voters something not on offer any where else.
We offer moderate left of centre policies.
We are are also the only party to support a BUY BRITISH CAMPAIGN.

Impressed by the attitude and commitment of members of theSDP, the party offers patriots a good home –
Pro English parliament (yes its passed unlike UKIP who arestill talking about it), anti EU and supportive of a centre left platform, based on the needs and wishes of ordinary people, maybe? The SDP offer many achance to voice their opinions and organise.

Being realistic, we have far too many small patriotic parties,we need one voice and maybe? the SDP offer that opportunity.

In the minds of many over 50, the SDP is still known nationally, add to this some excellent policies and things might just happen.

I had an interesting chat with one of your members recently. His take on the SDP is different to yours. He states all policies are up for discussion at the moment as you are presently seeking an NEC. He says he is not left of centre and believes that is not where the party sits!

Interesting how two people have two different ideas about what the SDP stand for.

The term Social Democrat is broad enough to include most people in the centre ground of British politics. The only people we specifically exclude are people that have been active on the extreme left or right. I also believe that hard line Conservatives would not be very happy within the SDP. The term Social Democrat is not specifically and English term. There are Social Democratic Parties all across Europe. All these parties would have slightly different policies but they are all centre parties or centre left parties.
I just checked in my dictionary and it says that social democrats are centre left. My I repeat the SDP welcomes new members from the centre and centre left of British politics, so your friend should feel completely at home in the SDP.

i totally agree with policies ideas , 4,5,6,7,9,10,14,15,17,18,20,
and also the SDP support of bringing back matrons on hospital wards in the nhs
& support of heavy freight back on the railways.
I know the main SDP policy is EU withdrawal but i wish the SDP would make
a real campaign to bring all the other policies to public attention.

    i certainly agree mark,

The Matron system was good very the NHS, and would if applied today, in my opinion, would help cut bureaucracy and waste in the nhs.

i fell that another policy which we need to concentrate on is the support for the manufacturing industry.
