I think a number of improvements have been made to UKIP of late.
Their leaflets are much better. The website is much better. The party does get some media from time to time. However, it is clear that UKIP is an anti-EU pressure group. Look at all the articles on the nice website. Look at the leaflets that have come out. Read your local independence. This being the case, I believe (as an ex member) that UKIP should make it clear, that it is stepping out of the game of trying to gain power in the UK and announce it is 100% focused on getting Britain out of the EU. It should stand candidates ONLY in key general election seats, targeting marginals of EUrophiles. It should dig up as much dirt on the EU and relentlessly get that into the news. It should work with any party that is pro Britain withdrawing and candidates in the old parties that pull out of BOO. Make it clear right now, that it has one sole goal. Certainly make people aware of WHY the EU is bad too. I will vote UKIP at EU elections on this basis.

I think the mix of the two (political party and pressure group) has made UKIP relatively effective in shaping public opinion (certainly much more than any pressure group).
I think that a 50:50 mix is about what's needed. The pressure group aspect points the finger at the central issue that is causing most harm in the UK (i.e. the EU). The political party aspect says we are willing to provide a practical alternative. If we don't contest elections as widely as possible we loose credibility as a political party (and lose publicity). With UKIP MEP representatives always and only concentrating on the EU while spending most of their time in the EU UKIP local Branches in the UK need to carry out a loud and clear attack on those who are responsible for taking us into the EU and keeping us there, that means the LIB-LAB-CONS must be confronted daily somewhere in the UK,this will bring their continued deciet about the EU into the public domain IN THIS COUNTRY on a regular basis.
We have attacked the EU inside the EU for 14 years and got very little from it,its time to take it into the faces of the LIB-LAB-CONS,right here,on home ground, where they cant openly, mock, sneer, and ignore us all. Make them squirm, and let the British public finally see what a bunch of EU lap dogs they have representing the country. Mount up,forward hooooo,.... |

I think the jack of all trades approach has failed miserably and is the reason UKIP still get hammered in domestic elections and don't even look like winning 1 seat, nevermind enough to make a difference.
This is why the old parties still take the **** as royaly as they do. Indeed that have even drafted in the royals to help extract the urine.

Exactly,I agree mkpd,if we actually start to confront the trio in the UK at every opportunity we will make progress, the public will become aware of the constant sellout and the trio will be finally pressurised RIGHT HERE IN THE UK on their dirty moneygrabbing dealings with the EU.
I think the idea deserves a chance at least to warrant a trial run of a few months or so,after all,UKIP has spent 14 years attacking the EU but completely ignoring its supporters in the UK,that is,ignoring the LIB-LAB-CONS. UKIP have nothing to lose by trying out this idea and a great deal to gain if it produces results like I think it will. Last edited by Hartlepool; 23-02-2008 at 10:53 AM. |

Local Branches and UKIP HO need to make short, hard hitting one liner statements and direct them at whichever party they fit.
They need to confront the trio by way of face to face confrontation whenever possible using polite and clear languaged questioning. UKIP HO have several people who are able to put together a short statement charging one or all of the trio with damaging the country because of their conniving actions and disinformation to the public. It should take no more than an hour or two to generate a great deal of probing questions and statements that could be put out there into the public domain inviting the trio to respond and defend their actions that they are acused of,eventually, they will be forced to respond, thats when the exposure of them starts, and so does the publics awareness of UKIP and its determination to hold the culprits accountable for this countries demise. |
