The Union is in terminal decline. We cannot reverse the devolution process, or I can seriously see troubles on the scale of Ulster. At the same time the Scots will not accept fairer funding for England, and feelings in England are getting increasingly bitter towards subsidising Scotland.
The only answer is English independence and the creation of a Council of the Isles.

Even IF (and that's a big IF) Scotland left the Union, I don't see why England and Wales (and even NI) can't continue as one entity.

If England went independent, you'd have the Cornish jumping up and down demanding their own independence/self rule. Where would it end?

yes - let them keep their Labour party, their pc rubbish, their multiculturalism, their whining, and let us go our separate ways and be the nation we have been for 1500 years, instead of the divided monstrosity we have become, in which minorities inside our country, and Scots outside, vote against our interests in order to line their own pockets and pursue their own ethnic interests at our expense. No, the union was a failure, it's time we stood up and tried to be English for a change, and eject this silly idea that an idea ('union') is thicker than blood. In other words, I hope the Scots go their way and start looking to their own selves, instead of blaming us for all their woes. It's all or nothing for me - give us back Ireland, and I might be persuaded to care about the Union again - but leave me with just the ungrateful Scots - no thanks (apologies to the many good Scots - I'm talking in generalities, and I am disgusted and angy at your countrymen and their constant disrespect and ingratitude and self-righteous finger-pointing about how wonderful multiculturalism is, towards me and my kith and kin).

if that's what they want ...
I believe in national self-determination, based on Wilson's Fourteen Points. What's wrong with the Cornish or Basques or Kurds or anyone else having national self-determination if they want it?
