Default Enoch Powell - good views and not so good views he held

If anyone's thinking of voting for Enoch Powell I just thought that I would warn people that he was anti-nuclear defence.

He loses credibility because of that in my view. This country must always have its own nuclear weapons.

But, of course, Mr. Powell was 100% right on the EEC/EU issue.

You might be thinking of him as a conservative rather than a Conservative but he was always a Liberal Party man. And, of course, Joseph Chamberlain & Winston Churchill were also Liberals for part of their political careers.

Thank goodness Winston Churchill saw sense to ditch the bunch of wasters that the Liberals were.

The latest version of the liberals known as "the Liberal Democrats" are even more useless than the old liberal party was.

About the only good thing Wellesley did as PM was help bring in the Catholic Emancipation Act, almost bringing back equal rights for Catholics.
Other than that he was *too* conservative. A brilliant military leader; absolutely stupendous. Just not a very good politician.
