Now the public are aware (or could be if they really are bothered about the election and who they elect), then I would suggest no.

If the people of Bromley are happy to vote for someone who ignored the rules, then they will have someone fitting to serve them.

And if that's teh majority of people, then that's what democracy is all about.

Unless you go for the Mandelson/EU approach of forgetting about democracy and just locking in the current king of the hill.

I was talking about Parties, but sure, it can apply to anything. Those with power, tend to want to keep hold of it. Some will use dubious methods to acheive that goal.

I wonder if the people who voted UKIP, wish they had voted Lib Dem now, to punish the Tories.

Probably not, seeing as the Lib Dem would have been just as bad as Bob will be.

In answer to the heading, then obviously, no. No point in being thrashed twice is there? And what if the BNP chose to stand the second time round? Would UKIP be able to raise ANOTHER hundred grand and still expect to come fourth?
