Default UKIP London Election Results 2008

Bexley & Bromley
Mick Greenhough UKIP 4.01% -12.20% 8,021 (6th - 193,266 turnout)
Batten UKIP 2,904 1.45% (6th - 200,754 turnout)

Ealing & Hillingdon
Lynnda Robson UKIP 2.58% -7.34% 4,465 (6th - 173,139 turnout)
Batten UKIP 1,745 1.00% (7th - 193,266 turnout)

Merton & Wandsworth
Strachan McDonald UKIP 2.56% -3.78% 4,286 (5th - 167,437 turnout)
Batten UKIP 1,056 0.62% (7th - 162,861 turnout)

There is something fishy about this result - apparently five thousand more people voted for the assembly than in the mayoral election.

Croydon & Sutton
David Pickles UKIP 5.44% -5.25% 9,440 (4th - 173,490 turnout)
Batten UKIP 2,158 1.23% (7th - 174,176 turnout)

South West
Peter Dul UKIP 2.01% -6.04% 3,779 (6th - 188,421 turnout)
Batten UKIP 1,563 0.83% (7th - 189,364 turnout)

West Central
Paul Wiffen UKIP 1.89% -3.91% 3,060 (5th - 162,239 turnout)
Batten UKIP 912 0.55% (7th - 164,459 turnout)

Barnet & Camden
Magnus Nielsen UKIP 2.08% -4.01% 3,678 (5th - 176,564 turnout)
Batten UKIP 1,036 0.58% (8th - 177,984 turnout)

Havering & Redbridge
Lawrence Webb UKIP 7.40% -5.99% 12,203 (4th - 164,976 turnout)
Batten UKIP 2,537 1.53% (7th - 165,418 turnout)

Brent & Harrow
Sunita Webb UKIP 1.95% -3.74% 3,021 (6th - 154,849 turnout)
Batten UKIP 1,341 0.86% (7th - 154,943 turnout)

City & East
Michael McGough UKIP 1.68% -10.63% 3,078 (8th - 182,755 turnout)
Batten UKIP 1,916 1.05% (7th - 182,463 turnout)

North East
Nicholas Jones UKIP 2.76% -5.46% 5,349 (5th - 187,792 turnout)
Batten UKIP 1,396 0.72% (8th - 195,078 turnout)

Lambeth & Southwark
Jens Winton UKIP 2.21% -7.04% 3,012 (6th - 163,083 turnout)
Batten UKIP 848 0.52% (8th - 163,877 turnout)

Enfield & Haringey
Brian Hall UKIP 2.96% -5.62% 4,682 (7th - 158,333 turnout)
Batten UKIP 1,363 0.85% (8th - 158,907 turnout)

Greenwich & Lewisham
Arnold Tarling UKIP 2.66% -8.97% 3,910 (7th - 146,841 turnout)
Batten UKIP 1,647 1.12% (7th - 147,210 turnout)

Total votes for Gerard Batten: 22,422
Total votes cast for mayor: 2,430,760
Percentage average = 0.92%

Total votes for UKIP on GLA: 71,984
Total votes cast for GLA: 2,393,185
Percentage average: 3.01% (-5.17%)

It looks like those 3% polls that we were doubting were spot on for UKIP. UKIP achieved less than half of its previous result in London, but more than the last General Election average.

Default Thank you

An interesting and useful list, Anthony. Thank you.

A large vote for Lawrence Webb at Havering-Redbridge (the Essex part of Greater London) I notice.

It took me ages to compile that because the BBC results pages were full of errors. I would appreciate another geek checking my numbers

I was on the 'phone a few hours ago talking to someone who was also complaining about errors on the BBC website.

The other day I noticed on the BBC news website that someone who wrote an article about the Crewe-Nantwich Parliamentary By-Election (to be held on 22.5.2008) had decided that Crewe is now in Staffordshire.

It has to be said, that UKIP's showing in the London elections has been a 100% disaster. What on earth is going wrong !
