Runnymede was a mixed bag. All but one of our candidates received fewer votes than last year, although in most cases this we because for various reasons we could only stand paper candidates or our candidates couldn't campaign as hard as last year.
The Tories generally improved on their results from last year and held all their seats. In the two wards where Lib Dems had previously stood but abandoned this year, most of their votes went to Labour. Chris Browne was able to increase his vote total by about 50 and his percentage from 18% to 21% Toby Micklethwaite in a heavily contested ward was able to hold his percentage at 25% despite losing a few votes. In my ward I lost about 23 votes. I can't give a percentage total as there was an extra vacancy, hence two candidates for each party were standing and results varied considerably even between candidates of the same party. We are still on a learning curve here so it was a useful election in helping us figure what works and what doesn't. |

Havant.
We got 4 third places beating Labour 3 times and the LDs once from 9 seats contested. The Tories made the only gain (from Labour) and Labour and LDs kept one each. We got an average of about 9.5% in a town where the Tories were sweeping everyone away. Given it is believed we do better when the Tories do badly, I am not too upset. I think we doubled our percentage of the vote from last year. A certain handsome young candidate got our highest percentage. :-) We are not doing handstands but we are not packing away our tents either. |

Well done Raymond
- this further confirms a voting trend we have both discussed on the pages of this forum before: of UKIP pushing Labour (Lie-bour) into fourth place in areas of the rural, semi-rural and semi-urban south of England (including the suburbs of London) where a hard-working and well-organised UKIP branch such as yours is active . |

It seems to me UKIP do OK where there is no BNP activity and where they have some kind of organisation. Put the two together, as in Hartlepool, then councillors come.

Disappointing result for UKIP in Cardiff (Whitchurch and Tongwynlais division):
398 votes - 1.6%. The Conservatives now hold every seat in the Whitchurch division, going from 3 seats to 4. Labour have lost their only seat in the division. Cardiff - Election information

The BNP came within 50 votes of winning a seat in Hartlepool all so but they are very new to the town compared to UKIP so your point is correct.

The bnp have been in Hartlepool for at least 4 years so saying that they are very new isn't quite right,is it.
The bnp still cant be up front and honest, they still have to put spin on stuff which makes exactly the same as the incumbents. To improve, say it like it is,and be honest because people always check you out, especially if you're bnp. You will get some respect for being honest with the voting public. |
