Default Liberal Party in Cornwall launches website.

The Liberal revival in the South West is gathering steam, and the latest sign of this is that the Cornish Liberals, for the first time in their long history, have just launched their own website:

http://www.cornishliberalparty.org.uk/

Okay, it's not exactly Web 2.0, but it has a reasonably clean, straightforward design and a clear, informative description of the party's aims, so I think they've made a fairly good start. I've learned two things already:

1) The bloke in the rather 1950s-style mono photo on the main page is Cllr Paul Holmes, who won a by-election against all the big parties in November 2005 to become the Liberal Party's sole representative on Cornwall County Council.

2) The name of the Liberal Party in Cornwall in Cornish is Bagas Larch Kernewek. I bet you've all been itching to know that.

Good show! Perhaps you can fragment support for that Cornish Independence mob?

Mebyon Kernow do not have any County Councillors, in General Elections they get less votes than UKIP.

For the record, UKIP Cornwall has it's own site:

UKIP Cornwall

and we have just opened new offices in Lemon Street, Truro.

If an ex-UKIP Southampton person is launching a Liberal Party branch then please wait for any official announcement from that person/organisation. We had some problems on here with someone asking about Tory councillors and a possible defection to UKIP Southampton which didn't help us.

No rumours on here please as they seem to get taken on by the other Parties and the media (not good if its a negative rumour). Feel free to message me and I will find out for you if there is an LP branch being launched down here ;-)

UKIP Cornwall are obviously pretty well organised. For the years I supported UKIP, I was often frustrated that the party didn't seem to focus resources on those areas where it was doing best. UKIP has tended to do well in Cornwall, with respectable General Election results and spectacular EuroElection results. Therefore I think that opening an office in Cornwall is a very good idea and I wish you luck with it. I'd be happy to see the Liberal Party and UKIP in Cornwall co-operating where possible, but I suppose whether this would work depends on the people involved.

Sorry no - I hadn't heard anything about it. Like Independent UKIP said on the other thread, I rather get the impression you know more than any of us about this! Anyway, I hope that it is so and I wish the very best of luck to anyone involved in relaunching the Liberals in Southampton (and indeed, elsewhere!)

I run an unofficial web forum for the Liberal Party; you are very welcome post the same question there and see if anyone has more details of this rumoured initiative. The address is:

Liberal Forum :: Index

I've just had a bit of a trawl around Liberal Party websites generally, and the only info I could find about Liberals in Southampton came from another unofficial site called Liberal Agenda. On its Contacts page for local Liberal branches, it says:

Perhaps this person could tell you more?

I expect the party will do very well in Cornwall if they keep fighting against the Euro and the EU.
May do even better if they back a Cornish assembly.

I asked them a straight question. What was their view on Halal and Kosher slaughter! I've yet to receive a reply!
