BBC NEWS | Politics | Lib Dem MEP defects to the Tories

Quote:
A Liberal Democrat MEP has defected to the Conservatives, saying the Lib Dems had "lost their way".

Sajjad Karim, MEP for the North West of England, said he had been impressed by David Cameron's speech on immigration. Asked why he had left now, during a Lib Dem leadership race, he said it was not a "snapshot decision" but one he had been thinking about for some time.

What a feeble excuse to jump. Why doesn't he just be honest and say he feels his job might be safer with Blue Labour?

Default Pro-euro, pro-EU, europhile, Liberal 'Democrats', MEP defects to Conservative Party,

Any bad news for the Liberal Dims (i.e. a defection from their party) is good news for everyone else in my view.

But has the Conservative Party asked the MEP who has defected to them from the Liberal 'Democrats' what he thinks about the EU?

I hope he is not bringing the pro-euro and pro-EU views of the Liberal 'Democrats' into the Conservative Party with him.

There are enough europhiles in the Conservative Party already. They should be getting them to leave it and they certainly don't need any more joining it.

If Ken Clarke states he's a valuable new recruit, then you will know your worst fears have come true!

Apparently it was previously full of quotes slagging off Cameron and Co.

Unfortunately one of his former LibDem colleagues has downloaded the lot.
