In a letter to the Crewe and Nantwich Chronicle today CLLR. Gwyn Griffiths (Liberal Democrat) writes of the serious concerns held regarding the impact of migrant workers and ends the letter:-

"I may upset a lot of people in my own party by saying this but if it means having to walk away from the European Union in its current form then we should do so without hesitation"

I await with baited breath the LibDem official reaction.

They will simply say he is a loose cannon and not representative of party policy, I doubt many others will be as bold as him if they want to climb further up the greasey pole.

The title of this thread is appropriate. Gwyn Griffiths apparently sits as a member of the LibDems, but his comments suggest that he is a genuine Liberal, and I hope he will consider defecting to the real Liberal Party, as several other LibDem councillors have done recently. I reckon he'd feel much more at home.

They have forced people out of the Liberal Dims for making pro-sovereignty (i.e anti-EU) remarks before now. A number of former Liberal 'Democrat' party activists are now in UKIP.

There was anger when one Cornwall Liberal 'Democrat' MP made comments criticising the euro and defending our Pound. He very quickly went quiet after the fuss in his own party over what he had said and has never (it seems) spoken publicly on the matter since.

Should he quit the Liberal 'Democrats' (as one hopes he will) he would then look back and regret having joined them in the first place.

They're a nasty bunch, these Liberal 'Democrats' (not surprising considering they are committed europhiles).

And I'm pretty sure their national (UK) membership is falling - a few years ago they used to claim they had 100, 000 members. The last I heard was that this was down to 76, 000 (and maybe less).

He should get out of that party. The Liberal 'Democrats' are no place for anyone who dares to say what the majority of the people of this country think and believe - that the EU is no good and brings nothing but problems.
