The new national Armed Forces Memorial unveiled today does not include the names of the four recruits who died at the Deepcut army barracks, despite being intended to honour those killed in combat and training. Liberal Democrat MP for Montgomeryshire, Lembit Öpik, whose constituent Cheryl James died at Deepcut, has today written to Des Browne asking for their names to be included. "This is a further affront to four families who still don’t know how and why their children died at Deepcut. "There is space for 15,000 more names on the memorial, the next four should be Sean Benton, James Collinson, Cheryl James, and Geoff Gray." More... |
