Default Lib Dems: Rise in failing schools extremely worrying - Laws

From the official website:

The rise in the number of failing schools placed in ‘special measures’ is very worrying, according to the Liberal Democrats.

Commenting on the 18% rise in the number of schools judged by Ofsted to be failing at the end of this year’s summer term, Liberal Democrat Shadow Children, Schools and Families Secretary, David Laws MP said:

"This rise is very worrying but is only one measure of the number of schools which are not providing our children with a decent education.

"Children only have one chance in life to get their education right, so we must be concerned about any failing school.

"The steep rise in the number of primary schools in special measures raises concerns about whether the shortage of primary school headteachers is beginning to have an effect.

"The Government has a massive job to replace a generation of retiring headteachers who are crucially important in creating good schools."
