Default 'Labour & Lib Dim party leaders discuss Lib-Lab Cabinet'

Sir Menzies Campbell, the leader of the europhile Liberal Dims (a party currently on 14% in the latest opinion poll - one of the lowest shares it has received for some time), has been in talks with Labour Chancellor Gordon Brown about getting up to two posts for Liberal Dim MPs in a Brown-led Labour Government - according to the pro-Liberal Dim party Guardian today.

Liberal Dim party Peer Lord Lester told the Daily Politics on BBC 2 Television today at 12.50 pm (of the suggestion that the Liberal Dim party work with Labour) "We'll look at this positively". But Liberal Dim party MP 'Ed' Davey said "We're getting alot of invites from both David Cameron and Gordon Brown - but there is no prospect of a Liberal 'Democrat' joining a Government led by Gordon Brown because we are in disagreement with him on too much."

Ming was on Newsnight a couple of weeks ago - it seems he and Brown are close friends and, I think, travel together when they return home to Scotland. M gave the impression, at that time, that it was almost a done deal.

Default David Cameron, Liberal Dims, eurofanatics, Conservative

Which would mean the efforts of pro-EU and anti-UKIP David Cameron to move closer to the Liberal Dims won't have been successful.

I have never thought that the Liberal 'Democrats' - a party full of eurofanatics and closet socialists - would or will prop up a minority Conservative Government.

Just as Blair fantasised about bringing in Ashdown to the cabinet now Brown does the same with Campbell.

The question is, remembering that the Tories have not won an election since UKIP first stood in the 1997 elections, is it better for UKIP to continue it's right wing agenda and as a Tory pressure group - thereby ensuring Lib/Lab governments long into the future or would it be better to adopt 'middle of the road' policies, thereby taking votes from all parties and giving the Tories a chance to win once in a while?

If the Tories had a sufficiently Eurosceptic line to tow, then UKIP wouldn't exist.

Eurosceptic means nothing to me, the word does not suggest EU withdrwal my mp is a tory and is against the Euro and the Eu consitition but still fully commited to our membership of the EU, no way will I vote for him.

Depends on the context. I'm all for cooperating with our European allies, I just hate the idea of being fused into Union with them. So in my opinion, the EU is a no-no, government to government cooperation is a go-go.
