Default Lib Dems may have to return £2.4m

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6090688.stm

Quote:
The Electoral Commission could still seize £2.4m donated to the Liberal Democrats by a man later jailed for perjury, the watchdog has said.
Previously it had said the party could keep the cash donated by Michael Brown's company 5th Avenue Partners ahead of the last election.

But new information has come to light about the firm which may make the donation "impermissible", it said.
Good, that will hit them hard.

How many times has this headline done the rounds? Must be about the 7th showing I think.

Whilst I would enjoy the Lib Dems having to return £2.4m I would think the Electoral Commission are terrified of the potential multitude of extraneous consequences of requiring them to do so.

Default Disgusting europhile Liberal Dim party

Hopefully, they (Campbell's Fiberal Dims) won't get a generous donator for the next General Election. They're a vile bunch - both as a party and as a group of people. I bet not one of them have even been to see the chap in prison who gave them all that money.

Without that kind of cash at the next General Election they'll lose quite a few seats with a bit if luck. They're already being squeezed on one side (by the Conservatives) according to this week's opinion polls. If Labour start squeezing them on the other side too - they've got big problems    .

Alot of MPs in the europhile Liberal Dims must be getting pretty worried about their prospects next time. Let's see UKIP join in and pile the pressure up on this disgusting band of anti-British europhile opportunists.

Topic heading.

No they won't according to Ming on the Sunday am show with Huw Edwards today.

When pressed on the question could the Lib Dems afford to repay the £2.4 million Ming replied that anyone, including BBC presenters would have some difficulty finding that money. It appeared to be said in all seriousness, question avoided.

Winding up the question Huw said I hoped that you say that would leave a hole and people would have understood that.

What a bloody party and Leader.

Baroness Miller, I think her name is (who is a member of the europhile Liberal Dims) said last week that it is possible to pay the money back - it would cost £40 per Liberal Dim member and would not necessarily need to be done straight away. The money from the members could be paid over a period of time.
