Default Liberal Dims gain nothing from their conference in new poll

The Liberal Dims have not benefited (I am pleased to report) from their ridiculous party conference at Brighton where their leader 'Ming' was sold in a failed PR initiative as 'action man'.

Sky Television News have just said (at 10.10 pm on 23.9.2006) that an opinion poll in tomorrow's Sunday Times puts support at:

Conservative 37
Labour 33
Liberal Dims 18

Adam Boulton, the Sky News political correspondent said "This is something of a disappointment for Sir Menzies Campbell ('Ming')."

So, the deceitful and fanatically pro-EU Liberal 'Democrats' have lost support. And it couldn't happen to a nicer group of people    .

Clearly, Campbell's europhile Fiberal Dims had been hoping to be doing much better in the polls (such as in tomorrow's YouGov poll for the Sunday Times).

The question is - if the Fiberal Dims are now on 18% (5% less than the 23% they got in last year's General Election) - how much further will they fall when all of the anti-Iraq 'war' protest votes they gained (at last year's General Election) return to Labour (as they will do when Blair has cleared off).

Let's hope that the Liberal Dims go down further in the polls  . They deserve nothing less.

* Tomorrow's Observer newspaper publishes a poll on its front page which says the majority of the public want Gordon Brown to call a General Election immediately if he becomes Prime Minister  .

I have heard a few reports from Brighton, that there was a 3000 person protest, having a go at the Lib Dems.

The reason being they have screwed up some local issues down there, so people were out saying if they can't run the little things, why should they be trusted with the country.

I haven't see much reporting of this.

I'll try to find out what the demo was about - a lady I know in the area is UKIP (having ditched the Conservatives years ago) and she is 'on top of' all local news  .

The only 'big' issue I can think of affecting the Liberal Dims in that area is the proposal (backed, I think, by Prescott when he had the power) to build the new Brighton-Hove Albion football stadium on land which comes under the local authority in the picturesque town of Lewes. Maybe Lewes is controlled by the Liberal Dims - it presently still has a Liberal 'Democrat' MP (thankfully, the only one in that part of the world).

A thumping 4-1 win by the Seagulls over 10-man Leyton Orient at Withdean Stadium on Saturday was the prelude to a day of demonstrations and protest outside the Royal Pavilion where the Liberal Democrats stage their party conference this week.

Before the Lib Dems' gala dinner last night, Paul Samrah was one of many irate Brighton fans handing out bogus menus to candidates, with a "Lewes Cabinet Soverywrong 2006", described as "bottled early, distinctly fishy and corked" on the wine list and "Lewes Gigantic Whoppers" available for children.

Default Nearly two thirds of all voters not impressed with Menzies

Thank for that quote from the Telegraph.

ITV 1 Teletext held a (telephone/text) poll of viewers on the question of Sir Menzies Campbell (leader of the europhile Liberal Dims) and his abilities as leader.

Of those that took part in the poll, 62% said that “the Liberal ‘Democcrats’ could not govern with Sir Menzies (as their leader).

Source: ITV 1 Teletext (analogue page 347) on 24.9.2006 at 1.46 am.
