Default Liberal Dim tax policies a waste of space says UKIP MEP

Just off the UKIP website:

No, Ming, Robin Hood took from the rich, not the poor

19-09-2006

The Liberal Democrat tax policies are nothing more than spin.

The proposals to cut the basic rate of income tax financed by 'green taxes' will do nothing to alleviate the tax burden on most workers, and will hit hard working families the most.

Dr John Whittaker, the UK Independence Party economics spokesman, said today (19.9.06): "These 'green tax' proposals are nothing more than spin: the same people will pay the tax. Clearly the Liberal Democrats have learnt from Labour about how to disguise a tax increase as a tax cut."

Dr Whittaker expressed surprise at the decision to move from direct to indirect taxation. "Moving to a tax system which hits the less well off the most is surprising from a Party which, in its own words, wants to redistribute wealth. It's not surprising that such a pro-EU Party doesn't understand British fokelore: Robin Hood took from the rich, not the poor."

The UK Independence Party is committed to cutting taxes as the only way to keep the British economy competitive.

Default Dim Fiberal Conference news

News from the conference of the europhile Dim Fiberals:

Quentin Letts, columnist, wrote in the Daily Mail edition of 20.9.2006 (of the appearance of Charles Kennedy, the ex-Liberal ‘Democrat’ leader at the annual conference of the Liberal ‘Democrats’ in Brighton on 19.9.2006) “Hail the exiled ayatollah (Charles Kennedy). But we’d all forgotten what a boring orator he can be.”

Paddy Ashdown, the former leader of the europhile Liberals/Liberal ‘Democrats’, said on 20.9.2006 (according to the London Evening Standard of 20.9.2006) “The period of Charles Kennedy (as the head of the Liberal ‘Democrats’) lacked strong and decisive leadership – but he made a perfect ex-leader’s speech yesterday because he did two things. He said Goodbye to the party and he did not overshadow the new leader (Sir Menzies Campbell).”

The Sun newspaper stated on 20.9.2006 “The Liberal ‘Democrats’ decided yesterday that taxpayers will be hammered with an £18 billion tax grab if they come to power. Delegates voted for a series of new taxes which would raise £8 billion. These include plans to push up the price of cheap flights and to increase duties on new cars.”
