Well, they have some good policies and I'm sure have some good able people involved but... it's a toy party. These parties are not based on any real movement, so will end up tearing themselves apart, in the highly unlikely event they make any significant progress. Because people without power but who tend to want power, end up taking it out on each other. The recent BNP collapse is just another prime example of this.

The Freedom Democrats already have 3 councillors in their ranks (two parish and one town). Yes they are small but also new. It is an attempt at right wing politics without the race element. We have a non native Brit on our EC and even our Chairman is mixed race. Hence we are not too popular with the far right.

Of course if this was dropped and the Labour party came out against the EU and Immigration im sure many here would join up.

Unless of course you were married to Harriet Har-men and then all the usual rules don't apply.

Jack Dromey, the trade union leader and husband of Harriet Harman, is being lined up for the safe Labour seat of Birmingham Erdington, after the local MP’s surprise decision this week to stand down at the election.

Labour’s National Executive Committee swiftly ruled that the candidate to succeed Sión Simon should not be chosen from an all-women shortlist. The absence of Ms Harman, Labour’s deputy leader and Minister for Equality, from Thursday’s meeting attracted scorn from some Cabinet colleagues.

One said: “Harriet is usually such an effective champion for all-women shortlists. It’s strange that she should have gone missing when the NEC decided to allow her husband a run at this seat. The word is that Erdington is being parcelled up for Jack Dromey.”
