I hate the fact I was thick enough to vote for this tosser. What a slimeball. I wish I could go back in a time machine and give me a bloody good battering.

How did you fall for it?
Dunno, Matt. You tell us. Perhaps you were young? I was pretty sympathetic with Labour until I was about 20. By 1997, however, not even my lack of enthusiasm for the Major government would have led me to vote Labour. |

In 1997 it looked like Labour was going to be a breath of fresh air.

It shows the power of mainstream media propaganda.
Doesn't it make you wonder what else we're being fooled about at the moment ?

Blailr is an extremely good con-man. Takes quite a lot of exposure and time for his veneer to rub off.
Exactly the opposite of Brown in that regard. Once Brown wasn't able to hide behind Blair, it was clear Brown couldn't con anyone with half a brain. |

In the video about 3.50 blair says "being a politician is about changing the country in the way that you think is right for the country".
Not quite right. While I might personally like x to happen, it would be my duty to question whether this infringed the liberty of others or imposed conformity uneccessarily. It is not just about seeking a better country as you think it should be, but understanding the limitations of the state. We used to have such principled men in politics, now they all want to 'help' us. |

People fall for tossers and their shiny newness all the time.
That's why you need people like me warning you about them. Of course, nobody ever takes any notice of me, so it's all a bit pointless. I'm beginning to think it's all a waste of time. Do I fight for my fellow man who's too stupid to fight for himself or even realise what he's up against; or do I go buy myself a private island in the Caribbean and lounge about on the beach all day laughing at the people back home still under the boot?

I sympathize with your frustration John.
The process of reshaping long held beliefs shaped by the system is a long and difficult one, but necessary, so don't lose heart. What did Ghandi say ? "First they ridicule you, then they attack you, then you win" ?

I'll confess, I was even worse: I liked the Lib Dims back then. Right up until Ashdown quit. Then it somehow dawned on me they're a bunch of commies. But I did think Paddy was OK and not a total EU puppet; I heard him openly criticize the EU on many occasions. If he is an ideological europhile, then that's OK with me. It's a good thing, in fact, that many ideological europhiles are growing to hate the Evil Union because it does not represent even their federalist values. This is evidence enough that the Evil Union is eventually doomed.
