Charles Clarke is one of the worst europhiles in the Labour Party. He is keener on the euro than almost anyone present or former Labour Cabinet member.

I'm quite sure he wants to stop Gordon Brown from becoming the next Labour leader and Prime Minister because he (Brown) refused to agree to Blair taking the UK into the euro in 2003.

I hope the unpleasant Clarke never gets back into Government.

Charels clarkes behaviour since being sacked for incompetance is the rantings of a bitter man, he hates Gordon Brown and does not really want him as PM but does not have the courage to stand against him.

I think you're completely right, RJT.

Charles Clarke and his ilk are desperately searching around to try to find someone who can win against Gordon Brown (and stop him getting the Labour Party leadership).

They would not admit as much - but no one is fooled by Charles Clarke's talk of wanting a "debate" about the future of the Labour Party.

I want to see the europhile Clarke lose his traditionally marginal seat at Norwich at the next General Election.

That's very true. No courage. I'm hoping New labour implodes under a mountain of debt. They have no reason to exist except to promote "political correctness", "quango governance", and "centrally spun diktats".

I agree. The members of the Labour cabinet are in to get the salaries and ministerial car. They have deceived and let down millions of people who believed their promises back in 1997.

Whoever takes over as Labour leader later this year has his work cut out to try to salvage the reputation of his party after ten years of Blair lies.

I've just seen Clarke and Milburn on Newsnight. A couple of weasel wordsmiths at their best. I think Milburn just tops it as the weaselier of the two! :roll:

The pair of them are awful. Milburn is pretty irritating. He is, so blatantly, a political opportunist.
