Default Meacher 'doesn't seem to practice what he preaches'

"Too many people have second homes" is what leftist Labour MP Michael Meacher allegedly wrote some years ago. Meacher, who is standing for the leadership of the Labour Party, has quite a few homes himself however - as today’s Daily Mail rightly points out:

At least it may open the Leader debate for others who may want to stand against the Scottish Chancellor, soon to be PM for England.

Labour's friends at the BBC don't seem to bring up the background of many of these Labour people when these individuals appear on television/radio interviews. Jowell and Hewitt are among a number of Labour politicians who live in expensive houses. Some Labour MPs apparently have luxury holiday homes abroad.

Default Cost to Labour of party leadership contest

It will also cost the financially strapped Liebour Party money to hold a proper leadership contest and it could throw up some surprises (perhaps Gordon Brown not doing quite as well in such a vote as some had expected).

Hopefully the cost of such a leadership contest will result in London Labour having less money to fund its campaign to get the unpleasant extreme europhile and UKIP-hater Livingstone re-elected as Mayor of the capital next year.
