I've just seen Charles Clarke on Sky News and he thinks there may well be a proper leadership contest. When asked if he was disillusioned, he said that was the wrong word to use. But he implied that he wanted to get over his views.

Could we see -

Gordon Brown, John Reid and Charles Clarke in a leadership race?

Wow, what a selection of talent. It's like being the manager of the Faroe Islands national football team.

Get over his views? Except those he holds on the euro (fanatically in favour), the EU (thinks it's wonderful) and the EU Constitution (hopes it is implemented).

This man Charles Clarke was one of the worst europhiles ever to sit in a Labour Cabinet.

Now he's probably keeping his pro-EU views quiet until he works out what line Gordon Brown takes with the EU (should Brown succeed Blair).

I don't know whether I want someone who will be a complete klutz (not very patriotic!) and sends New Labour down the plughole or someone who can get rid of New Labour's weasel wordsmithing.

Perhaps we need a General Election?
