Just noticed that the BBC 'girl' was a producer of Newsnight - can a 25 yo be expected to have sufficient gravitas for such a role?

Just how many Ministers have this Government got? Everytime they are on the BBC they trot out a new one. I heard today that a new Labour MP has already become a Minister and will appear on Any Questions next week.

This is my MP. He is a Blairite of the highest order. He was parachuted into the Mega safe Labour seat suceeding Tom Pendry. His main claim to fame is that he used to babysit for Blairs children. £20 and a lift home used to be the going rate, it appears Pensions minister is the price now..
He will lose his job when Brown takes over.
I will be standing against him at the next General election.

Default Purnell

I don't like him from what I've seen of him on the television.

I hope he does lose his ministerial job if/when Gordon Brown takes over.

I suppose it's a way of silencing them - if they give them a job title they'll be less likely to kick up a fuss when the Labour regime starts breaking more election promises.

Those that they can't 'find room' for to make ministers or private parliamentary secretaries, they'll put on some committee which perhaps makes the occasional 'fact-finding visit' to parts of the world which just happen to be luxury holiday destinations.

The few that can't be 'silenced' are the problem for the Labour Whips. And the power of such back bench MPs will grow if Labour get back at the next General Election on a tiny majority.

They have no need to silence Purnell, He has always voted on party lines. he has only voted against the party once and that was over the docking of dogs tails.
I am suprised at this story though, we had him down as batting for the other side (the engagement part as a cover).
He is a true careerist, and will start creeping round Brown as soon as Tonys back is turned.

Default Purnell MP (Labour)

What's his majority? I should like to see him defeated at the next General Election  . I don't like the look of him.

Eight and a half thousand.

John Whittaker stood as a paper candidate, with no party activists in the area. Since then the Tameside branch is now up and running and quite an active branch (ukip have never stood for council in Tameside) we are hoping to stand 18 of the 19 wards this year. Hopefully we will be able to build up support in this area before a general election is called, but we already have 2 PPCs for the 3 seats in the area .

Default James Purnell, MP EU supporter and political opportunist

A good website with an attractive opening page and colour scheme. And I like the picture at the top looking down on the town.

I'm sure there are quite a few Labour voters would not be overly impressed to learn of Mr. Purnell's support for the EU.

If electors are told how much the EU is costing them and what the money could buy locally in public services (and how much we lose on the massive deficit we have with the EU) they would be less likely to vote for people such as the political opportunist Purnell.
