Default Do the british Government ''really'' care about human rights?

I would like the forums thoughts on this matter.

Hell no. They care about themselves and power, end of story.

If you don't mind me asking, how old were you when you came to this conclusion or was it just life experience slowly making you aware of this? Don't things like Brown's recent 'care' policy change improvements change your mind in any way?

About 1 year after Tony Blair came into power. The sickening sense of shame that I voted for him was almost too hard to take.

It has got worse and worse ever since.

It was about 5 years into blair being in power I thought things wern't right but the media said every thing was fine so i just plodded on through life.

It was the smoking ban that really did it at first I thought well if it's dangerous to other peoples health then you can't really argue with it. When I looked into the health risks of environmental tobacco smoke I was quite shocked to find their is no justifiable basis for it.

Which meant our beloved labour party lied to get the legislation through. What was even more sinister they did it because the EU and the UN told them they had to cut people smoking. What has it got to do with the UN whether people in Britain or France or Spain smoke or not.

Then I started looking into other issues and when you start looking at politics on an international level rather than a national level it changes the face of politics.

It's quite clear to me our government does not work for us it does what the EU tell it to.

We have no choice but to hold our Government and indeed most politicians in utter contempt because of the deiberate damage they have done to our country in the desire to fill their pockets with dirty EU paid quisling monies.

But,fear not,the tide is on the change and the masses are begining to take notice of those who have spoken out against this injustice by our political nerdowells.

I think you should remove the 'human rights' part.

Do the British government really care?

No.

well, I would like a copy of Tony Benn's list of powers transferred, I don't know enough about it and don't mind admitting it. How do we get one, do you know? Perhaps I will see if Tony has his own website with this list on, I will check! Unless somebody already has a list, in which case, please post it.
It takes a long time trying to dig out information, sometimes.

If one considers detention of people without charge, the gradual removal of trial by jury and the abolision of habeus corpus to be fair under the "Terrorism Act" then yes.
