Never a truer word spoken.

But then, by definition 49% of the population are of below average intelligence. They have to have some political theories they can call their own, I guess.

By definition, 49.9999% of the population are of below average intelligence. Hence, a NuLabour government. Three times.

I think that the whole range of definitions needs overhauling. Nothing is as it was and people tend to tack subjective references onto terms that would not stand up to a dictionary definition (an illegitimate abstraction, in philosophy, of a term's or word's meaning).

I am guilty of the same kind of subjective rendering. It is not often that an individual will completely represent his or her philosophy because that in itself would violate the meaning of individual. But hopefully groups of individuals having basically similar motivations and thoughts will form larger groups and this will in turn lead to new and perhaps more representative definitions for changing ideologies.

At the moment things are in flux, to say the least.

Met any lefties lately?

I like to play a little game with them - figuring out what their answer will be to any particular question. It's an easy game, since I'm convinced that the lefties are given a manual on how to think about pretty much any subject. I don't call them "the hive" for nothing.

Try it. Pick a leftie. Ask 'em how they feel about abortion, or progressive taxation, or Margaret Thatcher, or 4x4s.

Yes, but you could say the same about Christians or Muslims or conspiracy theorists. Or right wing extremists. That is why I mentioned the fact that the individual tends to be an eclectic mix of the philosophies that best describe his or her particular world view. Purism can be a very dreary and sometimes dangerous thing. Leads to fascism in the non text book sense no matter who is promoting it.

Just my feelings on the subject, of course. Others may think differently.

I think Nick Clegg, for all hs anti-ID card bluster, has condemned the Lib Dem's to the doghouse again with his anti-referendum move. Yes there are many 'liberals' who oppose an EU 'Superstate' either because they only support the Lib Dem's (and the Liberals before them) as a respectable alternative to the big two or are libertarian at heart and support 'small government. There seems to be only three anti-EU 'liberal' parties out there. The old Liberal Party and the new Libertarian and Nartional Liberal (part Libertarian) Parties. I think Jason better give up on the Lib Dem's!

Default Hi

A conservative libertarian seems like a dying breed now.
Good to see you around. My views are more pragmatical than ideological though most of the times I see myself as a authoritarian centrist.

Welcome to the forum Jason.

I too have a NLP practitioner certificate, which I did in 1994 and a diploma in Ericksonian hypnosis. I don't practice either as a living, even partialy. In fact I got halfway through the diploma in hypnosis and realised I didn't want to do it for a living, but I finished the course for the qualification. I have thought of redoing my practitioner certicate recently though. John Grinder runs courses in the UK now, and of course Bandler has been doing so for ages.

There are a few other NLPers, or at least some people with knowledge of NLP on the forum.
