Welcome to the forum James.
Perhaps you would like to consider some advice from someone old enough to be your grandfather.
Whilst I respect & admire the skills of some of the IT professionals here, there really is a much bigger world out there than their type of keyboard thumping.

If I had my time again, I would have concentrated on financial matters with the sole aim of getting into the ‘city’ or financial sector.

The advantages of this are pretty obvious :-
a) a yearly salary of say, 10 times the ‘average’ plus £million bonuses.
b) The above in a) even if you make a b****x of it.
c) Because of a) & b) you can attract pretty well any woman you want and have the best gas- guzzling transport available and you can afford to jet –off to any exotic location in the world conscience free (if you pay carbon offsets) etc etc.
d) Generate enough money to invest in land ( to cover in solar panels & windmills perhaps) – and sell at a profit all that electricity back into the national grid. (Don’t be tempted into actual farming – even with EU credits, the CAP is skewed against the UK)
e) You should be able to make enough money in say ten years to either 1). leave the financial sector and become an MP or 2) make a donation to your party of choice on the understanding that you’ll have influence at the top and/or the promise of honours or a peerage.
f) And so on …….

Regrettably, James I’ve become cynical with age. They (whoever they are) say that ‘money’ isn’t everything. I beg to differ.

P.S. I’d have a rethink on Ron Paul if I were you – he’s not all he seems

I go against everything Clippo has just said, money corrupts, power corrupts. You seem a nice person, hate to see you become an a-hole .

Where I disagree with Clippo is the bit about , "Don't go into farming." I think "Farming" has got a future, especially when we leave the EU! ( Did you spot? "When we leave the EU" and not if)!

I agree with that, our farmers and fishermen have been raped year on year by the EU freedom from this inward protectionist racket will lead to a thriving industry with decisons being taken in the national intest.

I agree with Clippo first time for every thing if you want to hit real money then go into Economics it's mind blowing. How ever i was talking to a girl i know who's doing economics and she is not quite told the truth about the whole mater.

As for Ron Paul he's the only politician that has ever stood up and blown the lid on the monitory system and what a bid fat lie it is and how the banks have destroyed a free world to meet their own ends.

I don't agree with every thing he says but at the end of the day i'd put my trust in him and i've never said that about a politician.

I don’t wish this thread to debate the merits or demerits of farming per se but let me clarify why I said what I did before.

I believe it has been a recommended investment for the city slickers for several years now to invest their obscene bonuses into buying farmland. The aim then is to lease it to a genuine farmer to deal with all the EU ****. So the slickers get a positive double whammy – rent & land price rise, whereas the poor farmer gets …….

So my ‘don’t go into farming’ advice was purely ‘selfish’ since only a few of the very biggest landowner/farmers are making any real money at the moment.
I agree with you rjt that they have been ‘raped’ but I don’t think the situation will improve even WHEN we leave the EU. IMO, supermarkets and cheap food imports are additional rapists to the EU.

With respect to Roland’s comments about Ron Paul, I really do urge you to do some background reading and consider some of the groups he is reputed to have connections to. ( Makes Nick Griffin look like a sweet pussycat !).

With respect to your self I do not buy the allegations made against Ron Paul.
Ron Paul is the only candidate speaking up for minorities especially with regard to the war on drugs stating that it's blacks that are ending up in jail for non violent drug offenses and not whites. Some time ago I was watching an interview where he was saying that his greatest hero's are martin luther king and gandi. He also stated that and it's true as far as i'm concerned that we are individuals not races. The term racism was invented by marxist think tanks.

Look at black people in comparison to other races, they have a history to be proud of they fought for their rights and now most of the black population are proud of them selves and who they are especially in America where they did not rely on socialist do gooders telling every one that they were not allowed to be racist. The very word 'racism' suggest that because of a mans race they are not capable of proving them selves.

I say black's rather than colored because all my mates that are black regard
them selves as black and hate the term colored to quote a mate "colored! what am I a f***king traffic light".
