Default I just joined UKIP

My name is Chad.

I disagree in many areas, but agree in the core values, but hope to help broaden the party appeal by encouraging a more positive, progressive outlook and approach.

With the leadership election coming up, the is a real chance for change, and rather than just sit back and hope the direction changes, I could see, as others have suggested, that I should roll up my sleeves and get involved.

Welcome aboard Chad!

UKIP still has some growing up to do. Still a young party it lacks experience and doesn't have the tools of the media to get it's messgae across. I hope you can help transform UKIP into the 3rd party in British politics.

Now this is one of UKIP's problems.
Why third? Why not first?
I hear talk of "Didn't we do well" when we come in second.

We do well when we win - when we come in first!
Coming second is er... second best.

Chad - about time!

Thanks guys. I agree with both sentiments. The aim is the top, but you must have a realistic iterative plan with achieveable goals.

So, becoming the third party is not showing a lack of ambition but realising one of the steps along the way.

This will work in our favour, as when your plan is clear, and you start achieving your iterative goals, the success will encourage others to jump on board as people like winners, making success at the next stage more likely.

With the exception of an unexpectedly great freak result, like in Bromley for example, before even thinking about MP's, the party needs to set its new direction, broaden its appeal, then apply this by increasing its presence on local councils.

There are no short-cuts to success.

A win in Bromley is NOT unexpected!

If you chuck all your experience, manpower and other resources at a project and you win - that is hardly a freak result, is it?

Grrrr!

You have to be brutally honest with yourself intbel. What are the bookies offering for a ukip victory over the Tories?

Most people, despite all the effort will not be expecting UKIP to win this seat. It would be nice of course, but the aim should be to get to the stage where the victories are expected and a shock if they don't come in.

In terms of parliamentary seats, ukip isn't any where close to that yet.
