Default Hi, Action not words

Hi,

I am Matthew Thornton, an 18-year-old right-wing disgruntled Tory!

My main political views are as follows:

v Withdraw from the EU (I’ve finally made up my mind!)
v Spend billions more on our under-funded, under-equipped armed forces.
v Reintroduce the death penalty for murders.
v Have a firm but fair immigration system.
v Build more nuclear power stations, and invest more in tidal/wave power.
v Restore foxhunting.
v Scrap stamp duty for all first time homebuyers.
v Increase the retirement age from 65 to 67.
v Have a new bank holiday on Trafalgar Day.
v Rejuvenate the British aviation industry by starting a future supersonic airliner programme.
v Scrap building ‘city academies’ and use the saved money on improving primary and secondary schools.

Any good?

I hope to contribute some usefull views on many topics on the forums.

Hi M Thornton
Welcome to the UKIP forum. I look forward to your contributions. One thing though, I cannot support your stance on the death penalty. I know natural justice does sometimes seem to cry out for it, Ian Huntley (Soham murders) springs immediately to mind. My problem is I cannot trust the judicial process to get it right 100% of the time. Guildford four, Birmingham six etc.
Anyhoo, enjoy the forum :!:

M Thornton.
I am new to these forums and agree with your veiws with maybe the exception of retirement age. Should be an individual decision.
It puzzles me that some of the replies speak out against fox hunting. I couldn't give a hoot about these vermin but I don't want to stop a harmless tradition that has been enjoyed for centuries. Why the hell should we move on ? A few foxes die instantly and humanely and people enjoy a good day out. So what. While we eat factory produced meat, cage chickens, buy meat from filthy foriegn countries because it is cheap and allow hallal meat because of religious nonsense why stop foxhunting ?
As for the death penalty. With todays technology, mistakes would be almost zero. And whats the difference to going to war ? We seem to accept thousands of innocent people being killed because of the long term good.

Hi there, I'm also an 18-year old Right-Wing Tory. Who did you back for the leadership? Fox/Davis?

Yep, I completely agree. A simple free-trade area would suit me nicely.

We spend the second most on defence in the world (second only to the USA). France is third. Combined the US and UK defence expenditure makes up over 50% of what the entire world spends on defence. I presume you are against mergers and, cut-backs and de-commissioning of ships and aircraft? I believe that we should increase defence expenditure, at the expense of the Social-Security budget, which currently takes up 1/3 of the nation's budget (please note, the NHS budget is separate). I also think the Police should get more money. In my mind, I think we should be aiming at replacing ships and support aircraft every 20 years, and fighter planes every 10 years (with suitable upgrades in between). This is a dangerous world we live in, and I would much prefer it if Britain were able to defend herself.

I don't agree with you here, plus the ECHR and HRA (1998) make it impossible.

I agree. However, I believe Britain is already beomcing too crowded, so immigration quotas should be brought in (these would not include Asylum seekers, which is not immigration). Asylum seekers, when their home-nation becomes safe, should be given the option of returning home or applying for citizenship and going through the immigration process.

Nuclear is the way forward, at least for now. Renewable energy is almost a joke.

This should be a personal choice. However, some reform is more than necessary, a future pension crisis could cripple the economy. We already spend 1/3 of the budget on Social Security.

Shouldn't St. Georges day be one first?

What's wrong with the British Aviation industry? Do you mean the industry as a whole, or just manufacturers? British workers get a good deal making parts for Airbus, while British Airways is one of the largest airlines in the world.

Personally I think a return of Grammar schools would be appropriate. Failing that, I agree with you.
