Hello -I used to be a member until mr silk got involved-then i left!I'm looking for a party which will get us away from the constant drain and dominance of the EU.I dont believe that we ever needed the common market/decimalisation or the rest of the hype. Our country has gone downhill for years and now it's not our country anymore --look around-I know i dont have to tell you what i see.I'ts just that now i'm not allowed to.According to mr blur and most politicians we need europe to survive.Do we really??UKIP has seems to be very low profile and only emerges for the main attraction-elections etc.I think thats a big mistake,it makes the party seem like an onlooker instead of a serious contender.I's this a lack of funds??I would suggest a countrywide billboard campaign-showing on a weekly/monthly basis-how much we contribute to the EU.Imagine that! Going to work each day/week etc and seeing the figures go up and up and up!!everytime you pass, and wondering what do we get for all that money?? Well just an idea.Sorry-this was supposed to be an introductory post--Well,thats me!

Hello Dave It is an excellent idea, as you know, it was used in the last GE, as one of UKIP's solutions to overcome the media's reluctance to promote our party. Unfortunately IIRC, it cost about £200 - £250 weekly per board, with the best sites even more & in many cases, fully booked for many months ahead. Iwould think, that with party finances as they are, the idea could only be considered a lot nearer an actual election. It's all about Money  |

Buy a cheep old van, tax and mot it and paint the party logo on the side...
tax £180.00 insurance £300-£400. Legally park it in plain sight.. JD or get a scrappy and put it in a farmers field next to the motorway.. or do what I do... |

The point here is fundraising. If we cannot afford something then we need to raise the money to be able to afford it.
It's all bloody well and good the party saying that every branch needs to raise £15,000 by 2009, but that is peanuts in comparison to the donations that are given to the other 3 main parties. The figure also does not take in to account anything such as next years council elections, nor the County Council Elections in the same year as the next GE, nor the European Elections (but of course we'll get lots of cash for those in donations from our own MEPs trying to skin-save). The approach UKIP takes to fundraising is innapropriate. We fundraise like the Tories. But do the Tories fight elections on the funds they raise? No, the funds they raise are mainly for admin and council elections. UKIP needs to undertake a major fundraising campaign. But it can't be done with one big push then months of inactivity, it can only be done by constant work by the footsoldiers of UKIP, the very army that UKIP is losing. As for a major billboard campaign: yes. It would serve to keep us in the minds of the people. |
