What do you think of the idea to have the union jack flying above schools and colleges, and other prominent buildings in the United Kingdom, to encourage everyone regardless of their ethnic background to unite and be proud of this great countrys history, and encourage more adoption to the British values and traditions?
I would love to see councils and schools encouraged to, but not forced. False patriotism is no substitute for the real thing.

I agree that no council and school should be forced, but encouraged at the very least. I think in this country, especially in the younger generation theres some confussion about their identity which needs to be addressed as soon as possible, and also to some extent sometimes a feeling that they should be ashamed at parts of our history.

Every individual has a history, some will be good, some will be bad. Every country has a history, some will be good, some will be bad. As I've said before and I'll say to anyone, this country has a history to be proud of, the generation of today, including myself can only imagine of the horror and hardship that our relatives before us had to endure to fight for our freedom and democracy, and the pain and suffering hey had to endure. We learn from history so that we never have to repeat mistakes that have been made in the past. We cannot change the past, but united together as a country we can certainly help shape the future.

Regards

A very proud and British Rule Britannia

I would not be opposed to placing a legal obligation on Local Authorities, Schools, Libraries, Fire Stations, etc. to fly the flag on their main buildings. If we want to take our flag back from the Far Right of politics it needs to be used, and seen to be used by responsible organizations.

I’m sick of PC Local Authorities - take the matter out of their hands.

You need a good rant now and again RB, It’s good for the blood pressure.
