Hello I'm from near Middlesbrough. I'm not really a supporter of any political party although I consider myself a classical liberal in the tradition of John Locke and Adam Smith. I probably identify most with the old Liberal party (not to be confused with the Liberal Democrats!).
I'm also of Pakistani origin but not Muslim, I just thought that was important. |

Regarding that last bit, I really don't see why that was necessary. I have a few muslim friends and some of Pakistani extraction too. So, how do you see the future of Britain if you don't mind me asking. What are your views on integration of cultures and societies? Alex |

Welcome! I class my self as an old school liberal, but after reading the liberal party website in detail, while being better than the Lib Dems, they are still far away from what I would call a liberal party.

I have no doubt UKIP have a few members thought of as right winger, but then there are full on lefties too. If/when UKIP develops and pushes it's other polices, I think it will stay a very mixed bag. Overall I would say the Tories are actually a lot further to the right as a collective and do indeed have some pretty right wing types themselves. I struggle with the right, left thing anyway. If you wrote a list of questions out, I bet most UKIP people would answer them in different ways. I see myself as mainly a libertarian, but I lose that with REAL criminals. I think immigration mainly why UKIP is seen as right wing. I actually agree with UKIP's underlying policy of controlled immigration as I don't believe the country has endless capacity for population growth. However, I hate the way UKIP put the message out and I think some people back the policy for the wrong reason too. I wish UKIP would push anti-discrimination polices harder, which means no favour, no prejudice to any of Britains citizens. It is supposed to be a libertarian party, but because the leadership are so weak on pushing that side, it means we have the odd "Classic Conservative" who see it as their new home.
