Not really that bad news - she hadn't been 'with us' for some time. Life goes on ...

One more to go then I can claim orphan status ![]() Thanks for your kind thoughts and thanks to all you good folks who also sent your commiserations. I have only one older family member left now - my Father. Like me, he's aiming for 120 years. We have a bet ... Death has never bothered me - dunno why. 'Tis something I've always accepted as an inevitable part of life. But then, perhaps I've never been close enough to anyone for their passing to cause me any distress. Gotta admit I miss Spike Milligan though ![]() |

Hi there, I've been a 'sofa' supporter for some time now, but have not seen much action in the North West, so have now contacted the office to become 'active'.
I've been using the 'vote-2005' website for some time, it's a very active site, but we need more support on there, so if anyone has a few mins please take a look, cheers. |

Now ... no condolences or stuff ... things are all okay ... okay?
Friday I gotta telephone call - my father, unconscious, had been taken to Winchester Hospital having suffered a stroke. I got there about 4.30 am and he passed away in my arms around noon on the Saturday withou t regaining consciousness. Except ... In the last couple of minutes before he exhaled his final breath, he raised his head from the pillow with his mouth working, trying to communicate something. At this point I kissed him ... then he smiled. It was the most beautiful smile I have ever seen ... and 'beautiful' is an understatement. Then he was gone. No worries, he passed in comfort and in the company of folks who cared for him (my bro' and his wife and daughter were also present) and he passed happy and content. My bro' and I spent the Sunday in my father's place, ostensibly to go through some necessary papers. In reality it was to immerse ourselves in his life and we spent the day mostly in tears. Mostly tears of laughter as we reminisced and also as we uncovered a few hitherto unknown facts which threw some light upon things which had puzzled us in the past. I came home late Sunday night and I can say that weekend has been the most rewarding and in a strange way enjoyable weekend I have ever experienced. Why do I bother to write all this ... ? Hmmm ... perhaps 'tis for my own 'therapeutic' benefit ... perhaps 'tis for the benefit of those who have yet to have such an experience and who may, perhaps wonder, mebbe with some apprehension or even fear, how they will deal with it. I wondered myself and I can give you the answer - this thingo - 'to die' (as opposed to being killed) is as beautiful an experience as it is 'to be born'. No worries ... lyfe is gude ... Thanks for reading. |

I am yet to experience losing any parents,it's not something i look forward to,but because of the age of my folks i know it is just around the corner,i hope i have the strenght and courage you have shown and glad you had a sign of peace and happiness that your Father express before his passing.I know the memories of your Father and Mother, lives on in you and your family.
