Hello everybody.
I joined UKIP in april and have just found this forum. 48 years old (just) and have been in the offshore diving industry since 1980 and have worked all over the world with many nationalities. Prior to that I was in the British Army for three years. I have previously voted conservative all my life but as the EU took more of a stranglehold on this country thought that it was time to put my money where my mouth was. There are many issues that I would like to discuss but perhaps I can lead off about the subject of the UKIP being labelled as far right by certain sections of the media (BBC!!) I am sure that this is not the case and everytime that it is said in the media it should be countered otherwise the label will stick and we won't get the broad support that we must have to enable Britain to regain her independence. Killing off the Tories isn't the answer. We need to draw support from all parties and the fence sitters. I realise that there is the danger of being seen as a one issue party but I believe the party is drawing up a manifesto dealing with other issues. It must do that very soon to be ready for the general election. Despite the severe weakening of the UK parliament by the EU institutions we MUST get members INTO phpbb_the UK parliament, which is still the only place where a future act of secession will bear fruit. We have a long road ahead of us but Rome (sorry, London) wasn't built in a day. Well, enough from me now. All the best for 2005 to you all. |

The far right tag is being bandied about a lot. You are right about the need to counter it. Its very difficult though with the BBC acting as the broadcasting wing of the Guardian.

[quote]Killing off the Tories isn't the answer
Welcome, I am a new user to this forum as well. The above quote was said by an idiot (in politics) but not the media. He was trying to get much exposure for himself and not the party or the parties view. I had always voted for the Conservatives before but not with their new policies. We, UKIP are not far right, we are also not far left. We are normal people such as yourself with normal views. We want to be rulled by ourselves and make our own rules and not to be interferred with by other nations. welcome to the ukip party |
