Just to say hello. I'm here out of curiosity.

I am a retired civil servant and political researcher.

My main concern is that people should have accurate information on which to base their judgements.

I agree, accurate information is what we all want. Unfortunately there isn't a single newspaper or any other media channel that does not put it's own slant on "news".

The internet gives people a much wider view, but you still have to pick the nuggets of truth out of a sea of drivel.

Human nature gets in the way of "fair and balanced" news reporting.

Welcome to the forum Sheila. I think that you will find that everyone here agrees with your principle of freely available information. That is the purpose of this board.

Totally agree on freedom of information..... just there's no such thing as a non bias news report

Don't believe anything I read anywhere in the media until I have checked out the facts.

A wise strategy. The trouble is - where to look for the truth? You may find some good references here though. Be warned however, the more you will learn on the subjects contained herein, the more worried you will become about this countries future, your future and the future of those that are yours.

But we have occasional outbreaks of humour - so it's not all EU doom and gloom.
