Julian Morrison is just starting out
Default Hello all

Hi, I'm Julian Morrison, not technically a UKIP member but I do unofficially promote it to friends and relatives!

I personally think smaller government is better and would prefer there be none at all (ie: libertarian anarchist). Which makes me supporting any political party a bit odd, but I have my reasons.
  • UKIP wants to erase a whole layer of government. Not just any layer, but the worst, most anti-liberty, most untouchable, most interventionist layer. That's a pure win.
  • UKIP seems to "get it" with regard Common Law and the notion of freedoms rather than "granted" rights. A restored common law (built around civil cases, the abstraction of "discovering justice", and case law) would be a major step towards moving all law out of the government ambit. So that's another win.
So, then, my agenda with regard to UKIP: First, I'd like to see it aim to win. It won't yet, but it could reach that size in under a decade, and even at the next election it could well become a coalition partner (with disproportionate clout) in a minority government. Second, dump the daft socialist ideas for subsidizing farmers (they'll do fine on their own once the red tape has been removed), plan to charity-ize the NHS and welfare, and to shut down the pyramid scam that is "National Insurance" before it blows up in everyone's faces.

So there, that's all my cards on the table...

Welcome Julian. You should join UKIP! There is much logic in your cards aka argument. I share many of your views (especially about farm subsidies!)

Welcome! Nice to (kind of) meet another libertarian anarchist!

Can I pick up on your comments about the NHS...what do you think should be done about our failing health system?

Split down the NHS INTO phpbb_local charitable trusts. Make each hospital a self-administering local charity, able to charge or work for free. GPs can either work for a local trust or practise privately. Remove the BMA monopoly, allowing competing private certification (or even uncertified doctors, for the adventurous). Remove all licenses, fees, red tape and regulations. They won't be necessary given that charitable hospitals will be directly accountable to donors, and private providers to customers.

The local, charity aspect of this plan could actually be saleable to people who think "privatization" means corporatism and price gouging.

(BTW, much the same would work for schools.)
