Greetings one and all.....
I'm proud to say I voted for UKIP at the recent Euro elections and at the previous election which propelled both Jeffrey Titford and Nigel Farage INTO phpbb_parliament, and put UKIP firmly on the map. Since the Tories got booted out in 1997 they have spent time trying to woo voters unsuccessfully with policies which show their new "inclusivity". They have forgotten there are large numbers of electors out there who have core principles and beliefs, myself included, not just on Europe but on high taxation, pensions, council tax being wasted, compensation culture, corruption, 'minorities' of all descriptions, asylum etc., but seem to prefer listening to their "focus groups" when formulating policy. Mr. Howard's weasel words on Europe in his party conference speech confirmed my suspicions all along that I'm being ignored. To that end I feel the Conservative party has left me, not the other way round. Why should I change my views to fit in with current thinking just to prove I'm trendy?? I pride myself on being a fully paid-up member of the awkward squad. A couple of weeks back I was working in Chelmsford and went along to UKIPs regional office and joined up - twenty quid well spent!! So now you know why I'm here, feel free to reply or send a PM. Keep the faith. Ned |

Greetings Ned, there's a lot of us ex-Tories in UKIP who feel exactly the same as you!

The Conservative Party in its present state is not a Conservtive party. The values of individual liberty and responsibility have been ditched to woo the liberal centrist vote.
The Conservative party should be trying to explain why their values are relevant to people, not ditching them for short term political gain. If UKIP continues to attract the kind of ex-tories it has been then we will become a stronger and more principled party with a genuine libertarian ideological foundation that can rightfully take it's place on the political stage.
